January's Guest Speaker
Gary
Smith, Executive Director of READI, presented CPI members with a very
informative update on the downtown development projects. The Bio Science
building has started, Weis Builders, Hal Henderson and Gus Chafolius all
have projects they are working on. Employment is up in Rochester and a
1% growth has been recorded. The bad news for us is building permits
are down by 19% this year.

Outstanding Volunteer Award
At the
regular January members' meeting, management co-chair, Greg
Donley, presented Barry Reeck with a plaque as Outstanding
Volunter for his unending willingness to help others within our
community. Barry works for Weis Builders and has donated countless
hours on the Seasons Hospice Lodge and most recently on the Salvation
Army thrift store in Red Wing. Whenever CPI gives Barry a call, he is
always ready to help us out.
