Electricans Apprenticeship and Training Center in Rochester Minnesota

Electricians Local 343 expand their training center

Our newly expanded electrical training center is 7500 sq ft, 3150 sq ft of class room and 3600 sq ft of lab space. We have 741 journeymen, 96 indentured apprentices, 8 residential wiremen and 27 residential trainees that we train. Currently we have 163 signatory contractors that we work for. Our overall budget is $473,000 annually which we acquire through contributions from our own contractors and members. The apprentices are scheduled for 196 hours of apprenticeship night school each year and currently attend 2 nights per week. In 2008 we had 768 journeymen electricians take 9248 hours of training. (Some take more than 1 class) The journeymen classes include: NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, FIRE ALARM SYSTEMS, OSHA 10, PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLERS, FIBER OPTICS, FIRST AID, CPR, HIGH VOLTAGE SPLICING and 70-E, RIGGIING. We are now planning on Wind Turbine training that will cover competent climber and rescue training. The Local also has 73 technicians and 39 installers that take training under the Statewide Limited Energy Apprenticeship Program.
