Greetings from the Children's Museum of Rochester!

Visit us at Rochesterfest!

We will have our "CMR Under Construction" exhibit set up at Rochesterfest's Family Fun Night on Wednesday, June 24 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Stop by with your kids. They'll love painting the walls of our playhouse with water, using magnetic tiles as siding, balancing "dirt" in dump trucks, and connecting circuits to make a doorbell ring. It's educational fun!

CMR will also be participating in the Rochesterfest Parade on Friday, June 26 in downtown Rochester. We'll be pulling our "CMR Under Construction" exhibit behind a truck. Be sure to wave and cheer us on. We're building a dream!

Update: Our search for a site

Our search for an existing building in Rochester in which to house the first-ever Children's Museum of Rochester continues. We have received numerous wonderful suggestions from supporters about sites that we should investigate.

One of the most common recommendations we receive is that we consider the building across from Apache Mall where Linens-N-Things and Cost Plus World Market used to be located. We appreciate the recommendation, but have investigated and deemed that location (and many other large spaces earmarked for commercial usage) to be cost-prohibitive. Please keep the suggestions coming by emailing us at info@childrensmuseumrochester.org.

Save the date for a CMR fundraiser on August 14

We're excited to announce that the CMR will hold a "Music, Magic, and a Movie" fundraising event on Friday, August 14 at 6 p.m. at the History Center of Olmsted County. Please save the date! Check our website soon for more information about this event, which will include music by Jake Donze, magic by Bob Miller, dinner and concessions (for purchase), inflatables, and a movie ("The Incredibles") shown on the side of the History Center's barn.

The CMR will also be one of the non-profit beneficiaries of the "Rock Your Choice Art Auction" fundraiser at the Eagles Club on July 24, and will participate in Rochester's first "ArtiGras," a celebration of area arts and cultural organizations, that will take place in Mayo Park on August 22.

CMR in the news

Fox 47 helped the CMR tape a Public Service Announcement in early June. The PSA will begin airing on Fox 47 in late June or July, and we think it will help generate even more enthusiasm and awareness for our project. Look for the CMR on Fox 47 soon, and check out our news page for listings of many of our numerous media mentions.
